The World’s Greatest Traitor  …
The OG

OMG …

If anyone in history’s been gaslit, cancelled, out of the game … it’s gotta be Judas.

The original.  The ultimate Traitor.

He makes Linda, Minah and Armani look like amateurs…

He was the posh, educated one among Jesus’s followers.  Specially chosen to be on the top team.
But he wanted political revolution, a rebellion against the Roman Empire.
And when it didn’t come, he cut his losses.
Switched sides, in a desperate bit of self-preservation.

The cost?  Two thousand years of being hated.  (You … Judas!)

Did he know shopping Jesus to the authorities would get him crucified?
You decide.
Judas took his own life before it happened.
He never saw what came next.
He never knew that...it’s never too late to start again.

Life can begin at Easter.

It’s never too late to start again.

  • When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals – one on his right, the other on his left.

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: ‘Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!’

But the other criminal rebuked him. ‘Don’t you fear God,’ he said, ‘since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.’

Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’

Jesus answered him, ‘Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.’

Judas wasn’t the only one who seriously messed up.
Another mate of Jesus let him down.  Big time.
Ever pretended you weren’t with someone?
Been embarrassed to know them?

A guy called Peter did – but it wasn’t too late.  He got forgiven.

  • While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest came by. When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him.

‘You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus,’ she said.

But he denied it. I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,’ he said, and went out into the entrance.

When the servant-girl saw him there, she said again to those standing round them, ‘This fellow is one of them.’ Again he denied it.

After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, ‘Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.’

He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, ‘I don’t know this man you’re talking about.’

Immediately the cock crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: ‘Before the cock crows twice you will disown me three times.’ And he broke down and wept.

The Bible: Mark’s Gospel chapter 14, verses 66-72

  • On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!
